  1. I bought my used book at my local libraries used book store. It’s not a library book, the book store is mostly supported by volunteers and donations. It is Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle. It’s the latest Penguin Classics edition, and although it has some creasing on the spine it’s in pretty good condtion.

  2. The Chronicles of Narnia. I bought it at a Friends of the Oak Lawn Library. I do not know how many owner(s) as it was in great shape. Only a crease on the front cover.

  3. Mine is an old hardback copy of Bullfinch’s Greek Mythology. I didn’t think it was so bad – worn, and a bit spine-bent – but then I got it back from a friend, and the spine had actually busted. So now it’s difficult to handle without accidentally getting your fingers inside the spine…

  4. My book, reviewed here http://wildwoodflwr.wordpress.com/2009/01/08/the-bluest-eyethe-bluest-eye/
is The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. I bought it used at a book sale at a Museum. I don’t know how many previous owners it had. The book is in great shape, hardback, and is only missing the original dustjacket. It was a pretty good find for a used book.

  5. I’m sure which used book store I bought this in…It’s in good enough condition that I’ll swap it on PaperbackSwap.

    Skin Tight (Carl Hiaasen)

  6. I picked Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. I bought it from Half-Price Books last year, and it’s in good condition.

  7. I just reviewed Sexing the Cherry which I’m counting as my choice for this category!

  8. I selected Escher on Escher.

It’s a used book, which I bought at the Louisiana Philharmonic Book Sale.

It’s in good shape now, since a friend glued the binding back to the pages.

  9. Here is my post about my ‘used’ choice, The Museum Guard, which I chanced upon at a library donations book sale. Thanks!

  11. I just finished mine. I bought The Grail War from the only used bookstore in driving distance of my house- Hole in the Wall Books. It’s twenty minutes away! My review is here:

  12. I read Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov.I purchased it for $2.50 at a used book store in November. This soft-cover, 1968 copy has a fully intact cover (albeit ugly), all the words, and yellowing pages. I’m giving it away to someone who doesn’t mind used books. 🙂

  13. I reviewed Pearl S. Buck’s The Good Earth. My copy was $3.99 at Goodwill about a year ago; it’s a modern paperback in perfect condition. A lucky find!

  14. I bought off this book, Malarkey by Keith Gray, from somebody via an online forum. So I guess it can be considered used.

  15. I purchased Deep Storm at the local Friends of the Library Book Sale; this was obviously a donated book, as it is in excellent condition. Pretty entertaining read, too, so definitely worth the $7/bag that it came in!

  16. Finally wrote up my used book, In the Land of Dreamy Dreams by Ellen Gilchrist. This one was also pretty dusty and the opposite of the distance category; she lives in my hometown.

I liked it, but I read it in January and now can’t remember all that much about it!

  17. My used book is The Witches of Worm by Zilpha Keatley Snyder. Review here: http://zenleaf.blogspot.com/2009/05/witches-of-worm-by-zilpha-keatley.html

  19. World of Pies is my choice for used book. I purchased it at a little used bookstore in my town called Browsers Books.

  26. My used book was Roald Dahl’s Going Solo. I own multiple copies of this book, but the used copy was purchased at a Christmas night market sort of thing.
