Poirot Loses a Client by Agatha Christie. It’s a horrendous cover: an old ghostly lady with a light under her chin and this bluish swirly stuff all around her. Stuff out of a bad horror film…
I finished the book for this one last night. It’s called Story in the Sand. I thought the cover was just ugly. I guess I can see why they used it, the book is about a soldiers reactions after being in the war in Iraq, and it’s refered to the war in the sand, but…it’s still an ugly cover.

I just finished reading Fat Girls and Lawn Chairs. I chose it as my cover because, well, quite honestly, I’ve never seen a cover like it. It’s quite hideous, but in that, hysterical kind of hideous-ness. Like you expect it to be a calendar, not so much a book cover.

I have posted a review of East O’ the Sun and West O’ the Moon, illustrated by Frances Brundage and published in 1937. The cover was chosen for its beauty.

I opted to use “The Edible Woman” by Margaret Atwood as my cover choice, because I really enjoyed the artwork on the cover. Unfortunately, this wasn’t to rank in my favorite Atwood stories…
The cover of Haruki Murakami’s After Dark really brings out my inner eight-year-old. It’s sparkly! There is a pretty lady on it! The novel itself is much darker; my review is over here.

I just finished Peony in Love by Lisa See.
The cover is simple and elegant. Although the story is elegant, it was more complex in design than the cover – which is just fine with me as I finished it in one sitting!

I read BENEATH A MARBLE SKY. I loved the cover which showed the Princess Jahanara standing with the Taj Mahal in the background. I loved the book.

I chose Sarah’s Key for my cover book. It depicts the innocence of childhood in the little girl in pigtails and bows jumping over a ditch. It was a very fitting cover in that the book was about the destruction of that very innocence and sense of wonder.

I read Murder on A Hot Tin Roof, by Amanda Matetsky, which is a mystery set in the fifties. The cover is a darling line-drawn illustration.

I thought Darling Jim by Christian Moerk had a really pretty cover.
This book (actually the whole trilogy but I’lll just count the first one) had the most delightfully hideous 1980’s fashion I just couldn’t keep my eyes off it! It was really ugly, but hey I’m always ready to party like it’s 1986!

This was one of the ugliest covers, unless you happen to like skulls. I would have deemed it the creepiest cover.
I chose Helen of Troy by Margaret George as the prettiest cover, and it definitely lived up to it’s artwork.

I finished the “cover” book; The Thirteenth Tale. The book is as good as its beautiful cover.
For the cover category, I choose Lovers and Strangers Revisited by Robert Raymer.
It’s kind of pretty and simple, with a woman lying down sideways and her face partly hidden. In a way, it’s mysterious!
