  1. I chose “The Next Thing On My List” by Jill Smolinksi….the cover shows a dandelion being blow off and going in all directions…pretty.

  2. […] Not: The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga (I must start reading Booker winners again, I really must!) Cover: I am a sucker for a good cover. Plus, who doesn’t like getting caught reading a pretty book […]

  3. Poirot Loses a Client by Agatha Christie. It’s a horrendous cover: an old ghostly lady with a light under her chin and this bluish swirly stuff all around her. Stuff out of a bad horror film…

  4. I finished the book for this one last night. It’s called Story in the Sand. I thought the cover was just ugly. I guess I can see why they used it, the book is about a soldiers reactions after being in the war in Iraq, and it’s refered to the war in the sand, but…it’s still an ugly cover.

  5. I fell in love with this cover since the first day I saw it and of course, couldn’t help myself and bought it. It’s so girly and the story was just great.

  6. I just finished reading Fat Girls and Lawn Chairs. I chose it as my cover because, well, quite honestly, I’ve never seen a cover like it. It’s quite hideous, but in that, hysterical kind of hideous-ness. Like you expect it to be a calendar, not so much a book cover.

Here’s my review. (Oh and the book wasn’t so hot either!)

  7. I have posted a review of East O’ the Sun and West O’ the Moon, illustrated by Frances Brundage and published in 1937. The cover was chosen for its beauty.

  8. My book is “Flesh and Blood” by Michael Cunningham, which has more an intriguing cover than a pretty one (though I guess it’s that, too). Still not sure I understand it, but my review is here: http://www.sarahewhite.com/?p=40

  9. I loved the cover for The Valentine Edition – here is my review: http://booksandneedlepoint.blogspot.com/2009/02/valentine-edition-by-robin-shope-book.html

  10. I opted to use “The Edible Woman” by Margaret Atwood as my cover choice, because I really enjoyed the artwork on the cover. Unfortunately, this wasn’t to rank in my favorite Atwood stories…

  11. The cover of Haruki Murakami’s After Dark really brings out my inner eight-year-old. It’s sparkly! There is a pretty lady on it! The novel itself is much darker; my review is over here.

  12. I just finished reading My Beaver Colony for this one. The jacket was lame, but the text quite interesting! Here’s my post:

  13. I just finished Peony in Love by Lisa See.

The cover is simple and elegant. Although the story is elegant, it was more complex in design than the cover – which is just fine with me as I finished it in one sitting!

  14. I read BENEATH A MARBLE SKY. I loved the cover which showed the Princess Jahanara standing with the Taj Mahal in the background. I loved the book.

    Here’s the review.

  15. I am going to use “Darcy And Anne” for my cover book. My review is linked here.

  16. I chose Sarah’s Key for my cover book. It depicts the innocence of childhood in the little girl in pigtails and bows jumping over a ditch. It was a very fitting cover in that the book was about the destruction of that very innocence and sense of wonder.

  17. I read Murder on A Hot Tin Roof, by Amanda Matetsky, which is a mystery set in the fifties. The cover is a darling line-drawn illustration.

  18. Prettiest cover – Gossamer by Lois Lowry:

  19. I thought Darling Jim by Christian Moerk had a really pretty cover.

  20. This book (actually the whole trilogy but I’lll just count the first one) had the most delightfully hideous 1980’s fashion I just couldn’t keep my eyes off it! It was really ugly, but hey I’m always ready to party like it’s 1986!
Here is the review of Shadowquest (and the two that follow it) by Jo Clayton http://hikaruthedragon.livejournal.com/20913.html

  21. This was one of the ugliest covers, unless you happen to like skulls. I would have deemed it the creepiest cover.

  22. I chose Helen of Troy by Margaret George as the prettiest cover, and it definitely lived up to it’s artwork.

    Here’s my review:

  23. I chose the Devlin Diary by Christi Phillips as a pretty cover and the artwork fit the story, everything on the cover was a clue to what was inside.

  24. Here is my haunting cover =)

  25. I finished the “cover” book; The Thirteenth Tale. The book is as good as its beautiful cover.

  26. For the cover category, I choose Lovers and Strangers Revisited by Robert Raymer.

It’s kind of pretty and simple, with a woman lying down sideways and her face partly hidden. In a way, it’s mysterious!

  27. I chose A Reliable Wife, by Robert Goolrick. I think the cover is quite pretty, and I was drawn to it. I’ve posted my review here:
